The best thing about being an educator is the opportunity to help young people develop both inside and outside the classroom. Following studying for my degree at the University of London and a diploma with Trinity Guildhall, my early career involved working in Marketing for IT and Telecommunications companies. After having a family, I realised my true calling was to retrain as a teacher, which means I now get to discuss my passion for English Literature or History, whilst working with incredible young people who are a constant source of inspiration. I have held several pastoral roles in the last decade and, as the current Head of Lower Seniors, I particularly enjoy being part of the transition that pupils make from Primary to Secondary school as they discover the wealth of opportunities available to them. With three grown up sons of my own, I fully appreciate how quickly the years fly by during the Secondary years, and the importance of the support and encouragement pupils receive at school in giving them confidence to make their next steps. Away from the classroom, I enjoy reading (Austen remains a favourite), theatre (especially Shakespeare and ballet), cooking, working on complex crochet creations and growing old English roses, which often bring cheer and exquisite fragrance to my desk whilst I mark essays!
