I always knew I would be a teacher and genuinely believe it is my calling in life. After achieving a First Class Honours in my Religious Studies degree I went on to complete my teacher training at the University of Oxford. I am often heard saying this was one of the best years of my life! After my training I spent the summer teaching English in schools in Chennai, India, and am still in touch with some of the students I met there.
I joined St Joseph’s in 2016 and throughout my time here I have been Head of Year 8, Head of Year 9 and more recently Head of Year 11. Being able to support students through their final year of GCSEs is incredibly rewarding, and seeing them start to mature into the young adults they will become and make important decisions about their futures are some of the highlights of the role. I love being busy, so it felt right to add Director of HaLE (Humanities and Languages Enrichment) alongside my Head of Year role. I am excited about further developing the HaLE co-curricular offering and playing a pivotal role in STEP, our extension programme.
Away from school I can be found going for long walks, running around after my nieces, or in the kitchen baking treats for my friends and colleagues. I love travelling and can spend hours researching my next holiday – anywhere with some sun and I’m sold!
