St Joseph’s recently celebrated the musical talents, both instrumental and vocal of pupils from across College at the annual Spring Music Concert.
A key part of St Joseph’s College pupil life is to provide a musical education second to none and as part of this, we have an ongoing partnership with the world class London Mozart Players (LMP) who help inspire, educate and motivate our pupils. We were delighted to welcome five members of the LMP orchestra to the Spring Concert and they sat side by side with our pupils in the Orchestra and String Group, as well as accompanying some pupils in solo items. This was a truly unique and invaluable lesson in professional standards and expectations and the pupils benefit immensely from this.
Performances during the Concert included The Land of the Mountain and the Flood (H MacCunn) by our Orchestra and the Circle of Life, which was performed beautifully by our Year 7 and Year 8 Lower Senior Choir.
The London Mozart Players accompanied an outstanding performance of the first movement of Mozart’s Violin Concerto No.5 from Year 10 pupil Maria Segarra Alonso and Year 12 singer Sam Scozzari’s performance of Vedro con mio diletto by Vivaldi.
Ethan and Rio in Year 11 performed the first movement of Vivaldi’s Concerto in A Minor for 2 Violins, again accompanied by The London Mozart Players, and the school Wind Bands and Ensembles, Chamber Choir, Brass Band, String Quartet and Jazz Band all entertained us with a vast array of different musical styles that featured pupils from Year 4-13!
The evening was rounded off with a rousing performance of a James Bond Medley by our Year 7-13 Senior Wind Band. What a night!
