St Joseph’s College were delighted to welcome the London Mozart Players to perform at the Spring Music Concert for the third year running, as part of our ongoing partnership between the school and this world famous orchestra.
These concerts provide opportunities for musicians from St Joseph’s to play side-by-side with musicians from LMP and this concert featured the finale from Beethoven’s 5th Symphony for the school Orchestra and LMP together.
In addition, 3 soloists from the school had the unique experience of performing concertos accompanied by LMP: Carys (Y11), played Marcello’s Oboe Concerto, Carlie (Y10), Mozart’s Piano Concerto no 21 and Aakash (Y13), Glazunov’s Saxophone Concerto. LMP gave the world premiere of Mathilde’s (Y13), string composition called Zhaney. The climax of the evening was a spectacular performance of Purcell’s anthem Come Ye Sons of Art for the combined Chamber and College Choirs accompanied by LMP featuring soloists from the choirs.
It was an exceptional evening at the Spring Music Concert and the students left feeling massively inspired. A great big Thank You to the London Mozart Players.
From the students
