Since joining St Joseph’s in 2018, Benji Wroblewski, Director of Developing Sport, has been implementing changes to enhance the sporting curriculum and further embed a passion for sport in all pupils and pride in their personal achievements.
For Mr Wroblewski, enhanced participation and enjoyment are the key aims of his vision for sport at the College, with a focus on developing every pupil’s understanding of sports and the importance of sportsmanship.
“I believe that sport shouldn’t just be for the best players, sport should be for everyone.
Some children grow up thinking they are not good at sport, but you don’t have to be good at it to enjoy it! The chances are that by enjoying it, your skills will improve and you will build your resilience.”
Future vision
Many of our current students have a clear pathway in place and are already taking part in sport at county and nation level, but Mr Wroblewski’s vision is to ensure expert teaching and a wide variety of opportunities are available to every pupil, irrespective of their skill or experience. His aspiration is that pupils have the best possible experience of sport, so they continue to participate after leaving St Joseph’s, whether that is Parkrun on a Sunday or representing England.
