Our Prize Giving ceremony for both Prep and Senior students is always a very joyful and proud event. We had the pleasure of inviting our esteemed guest speaker, Nathaniel Fernandes back to the College. An old Broad Oakian and ex-Deputy Head student of the College (2014 to 2016), Nathaniel delivered an inspirational speech that resonated deeply with the students, staff, and parents alike.
His journey from our classrooms to his current success story provided a powerful testament to the values and education here at St Joseph’s College. Nathaniel said “I really enjoyed those two years here and I learnt a lot of things that still apply in my job today:- things like giving a presentation in front of a crowd, working in a team, having a position of responsibility, you’d be surprised how many of those experiences you draw upon”.
Prizes were awarded across a range of categories, celebrating achievements in the 5 C’s: Collaboration, Commitment, Communication, Confidence, and Compassion. These core values underpin our educational philosophy and it was wonderful to see students recognised for their embodiment of these principles.
Subject-specific awards were given to our GCSE and A-Level students highlighting their academic excellence and outstanding work throughout the year and Special awards were also awarded to students who have gone above and beyond in various aspects of school life.
The new Head student team, did a great job leading the prize giving ceremony and it was particularly heart warming to see the previous outgoing Head students return to the stage to receive the prestigious Head’s Award for Leadership, acknowledging their significant contributions to the school community.
Interspersed with these formal proceedings were captivating drama and music performances that showcased the incredible talent and creativity of our students and a reflective address from our Head.
What a great way to end the Academic Year.
