Will children be required to keep 2 metres apart?
No. The Government recognises that primary age children cannot be expected to remain 2 metres apart from each other. However, we will be encouraging the children to social distance. Activities will be adapted to social distancing as much as possible.
Will staff be able to comfort my child?
If a child is distressed, then a member of staff will be allowed to comfort a child; this may include physical contact. The normal College procedures over physical contact will remain in force. This can be located via the College website.
How will children be allocated to their group?
Children will be grouped according to age and siblings (if requested). We will aim to group all children with friendship groups where possible.
Will children be able to mix between the groups?
No, groups will not mix and will always remain separate throughout the day at Holiday Club.
Where will each age group be located?
Each group will be allocated in four different locations within the College grounds.
- Early Years and Reception will be located via the Early Years Centre
- Year 1 to Year 2 will be located in the Prep Hall
- Year 3 to Year 6 will be located in the College Hall
Who will supervise my child?
Each group will be with two members of staff who have worked many Holiday Clubs before. The children will see familiar faces.
Will children be allowed to play outside?
Yes, all children will be allowed to play outside. Each group will be allocated their own play space.
Where will the children’s outdoor play area be?
- Early Years and Reception will use the Early Years Garden
- Year 1 to Year 2 use the netball court and the area outside the Year 1 and 2 classrooms
- Year 3 to Year 6 will use the Astro-Turf and the Top field
Where will the children play if it is wet?
- Early Years and Reception will use the Early Years Centre
- Year 1 to Year 2 will use the Prep Hall
- Year 3 to Year 6 will use the College Hall
What time should I drop off and collect my child?
You can drop off and collect your child your child from anytime between your timed booking, a member of staff will be located outside the entrance between 8:00-9:00am, for any other arrival or collection times please call us on 07718 786 278.
It is expected that will be with use for the whole day from their designated departure to collection time. If you are required to pick up your child outside these times. Please contact holidayclub@sjcr.org.uk to inform them of this. Once you have arrived earlier please go straight to the College reception who will contact the Holiday Club.
Will lunch be provided?
Yes, lunch will be provided. All dietary requirements are catered for and are included in your booking.
Can I come into the school buildings?
No. If you need to speak to someone other than at the drop off and collection times, please come to the College Reception. Please only enter if the reception area is free and please stand behind the 2-metre line.
What activities will be on offer?
We will be continuing our Sports, Holiday Club Games, Arts and Crafts throughout the summer. Our timetable caters for all children and we’re really looking forward to getting started.
What are the drop off and collection arrangements?
Drop-off procedures – Early Years and Reception to Year 2:
- On entering the College, bear left and park in Broad Oak car park
- One parent to escort their child to the Prep Gates, queueing up on the footpath, observing social distancing. To assist, social distance markers will be on the pavement
- On arrival at the prep gates a parent hands over their child over to a member of the Holiday Club
- A member of staff will then accompany the child to their group
- Once children have been handed over to a member of staff, parents are asked to return to their car and vacate the parking slot, so as to allow other parents to park. Parents should not congregate to talk
- Registers – Staff will sign your child in to the Holiday Club
Collection procedures – Early Years and Reception to Year 2:
- On entering the College, bear left and park in Broad Oak car park
- Parents to queue up on the footpath to the prep gates, observing social distancing
- On arrival at the prep gates, a member of staff will hand over a child to their parent
- Once children have been collected, parents are asked to return to their car and vacate the parking slot, so as to allow other parents to park. Parents and children should not congregate to talk
Drop-off procedures – Year 3 to Year 6:
- On entering the College, bear right and park in the top car park
- One parent to escort their child to the bottom car park and hand over their child over to a member of the Holiday Club Team
- A member of staff will then accompany the child to their group, entering the Senior School via the Theatre door at the bottom of the car park
- Once children have been handed over to a member of staff, parents are asked to return to their car and vacate the parking slot, so as to allow other parents to park. Parents should not congregate to talk
Collection procedures – Year 3 to Year 6:
- On entering the College, bear right and park in the top car park
- Parents to queue up by the steps to the bottom car park, observing social distancing
- A member of staff will hand over a child to their parent
- Once children have been collected, parents are asked to return to their car and vacate the parking slot, so as to allow other parents to park. Parents and children should not congregate to talk
Will my child’s temperature be taken on arrival at the Holiday Club?
No. The government’s advice is that this should not be done because routine testing of an individual’s temperature is not a reliable method for identifying coronavirus.
Will my child be allowed to bring a water bottle into the Holiday Club?
Children in Early Years will be provided with water during the school day.
Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 can bring a refillable water bottle If it needs to be refilled hey must ask a member of staff to refill it. The member of staff will wear gloves when they refill the water bottle to reduce the risk of infection.
Will a morning snack and lunch be provided?
Yes, a morning snack, lunch and afternoon snack will be provided for all children.
In addition, an afternoon snack will be provided for Early Years and Reception children as their lunchtime has been brought forward. All snacks will be distributed by a member of staff wearing gloves.
At what time will lunch be?
- Early Years and Reception at 11.30am
- Year 1 to Year 2 at 12.00pm
- Year 3 to Year 6 at 12.00pm
Will extra hygiene measures be introduced for lunch?
Yes. Children and staff will only be allowed to sit at designated seats to ensure social distancing. Each lunch space will be thoroughly cleaned before the next pupil uses it.
What additional hygiene measures will the catering staff follow?
Thomas Franks have confirmed the following:
- Their kitchen staff will follow social distancing in the kitchens, or wear PPE where this is not possible
- Service will be provided by their staff wearing clear face visors and gloves
- All place settings will be pre-positioned, including knives, forks, spoons and glasses of water. Staff will replenish water where required
- Tables will be cleaned and disinfected between each group service
- All meals will be served pre-plated by their staff rather than self-service
- Their staff have been provided with specific Covid19 training, policies and procedures.
What extra hygiene measures have been introduced around College?
Hand sanitiser will be placed inside each building entry door, and in each classroom. Children and staff must wash or sanitise their hands each time they enter or leave the room, before eating a snack or lunch and after using the toilet. Guidance will be given to the children on how to wash their hands effectively.
Door handles, light switches, banisters, toilets, sinks etc will be cleaned and sanitised on a continuous basis throughout the day by the site team.
The College will be thoroughly cleaned at the end of each day and be disinfected with a specialist fogging process at the end of each week.

Expectations for children
- Children must arrive at school at the assigned start time
- Children must enter the building without parents at their assigned entrance door
- Children must sanitise hands when entering the building
- Children must sanitise hands before moving to another section of the school
- Children must sanitise or wash their hands before eating snack or lunch
- Children must wash their hands after using the toilet
- Children must only bring the minimal that is needed and on arrival take it all to their classroom
- Children are expected to follow the hygiene and social distancing procedures
