This morning, the College gathered for our annual Harvest Festival Service, a heartfelt event dedicated to giving thanks for the season’s abundance and reflecting on the importance of sharing with those in need. The entire community participated, with each class and tutor group contributing donations of food and toiletries. These offerings will be supporting two vital local charities, ReadiFood Food Bank and CIRDIC, both committed to helping vulnerable individuals in our area.
As part of the Harvest Festival Service, students presented a powerful video about Pope Francis’s encyclical letter, Laudato Si’, which translates to “Praise be to you.” The letter calls on all people, regardless of faith or background, to unite in the protection of our shared planet and work toward a more just and sustainable world for future generations. The message from Laudato Si’ was especially meaningful in the context of the festival, reinforcing why supporting charities like ReadiFood and CIRDIC is so essential in our mission to care for both people and the planet.
It was a moving and meaningful service, reminding us of the power of community, generosity, and the shared responsibility we have to look after one another.
