St Joseph’s College is celebrating the efforts and hard work of Year 11 students on GCSE results day with 26% of entries gaining grades 9-8, 46% 9-7 and 86% of entries achieving grades 9-5.
Our Year 10 students who sit their GCSE Religious Education a year early also did exceptionally well with 80% of them achieving a Grade 9-6.
In Maths, History, Physics, French, 60% or more of pupils attained grades 9 – 7.
Head Laura Stotesbury said: “Our students should be extremely proud of their achievements today, which are testament to all the hard work that they have put in over the past two years alongside considerable contribution to our co-curriculum in Music, Drama, Sport, Model United Nations and STEM. I look forward to welcoming them back to St Joseph’s Sixth Form next month as they begin their A Level studies.

Lawton is very happy with his results and is going to study English Literature, Drama and History in Sixth Form. He is looking forward to more College drama productions, Model United Nations, wearing a suit and using the Sixth Form Centre. He says St Joe’s has given him confidence – he played the lead role of Danny in the recent ‘Grease’ production. He is very grateful to his teachers who he credits with enabling him to achieve his grades.

Madeline
Maddy is celebrating excellent GCSE grades and is looking forward to studying History, Philosophy, and Maths for A Level. She is considering applying to Oxford to study PPE. She can’t wait to have the freedom to manage her own workload and time. She likes the fact that St Joe’s is a relatively small school where teachers can focus on every student as they know them well and how to support them individually. She has enjoyed co-curricular activities including LAMDA, Choir, Model United Nations and playing piano.
Kieran
Kieran
Kieran is really pleased with his results and plans to take Latin, Maths and English for A Level. He wants to study Law and train to be a barrister. He enjoyed work experience at the Royal Courts of Justice and National Grid and has just completed Latin Summer School at UCL. He is looking forward to more freedom in Sixth Form and hopes to have a leadership role. He says St Joe’s has given him confidence in performing and public speaking. He has participated in drama productions, the Football First Team and Café Scientifique. His advice to incoming Year 11s is ‘don’t procrastinate as it becomes stressful!’.
Zach
Zach
Zach is celebrating his GCSE results and has chosen to study Biology, Psychology and Geography. He is thinking about taking a degree in physiotherapy at uni. He is most looking forward to meeting new students, studying his subjects in depth and using the Sixth Form Centre. Since joining in Year 7, he’s found his teachers very supportive and credits his French teacher with the ‘9’ he achieved. Zach has also enjoyed co-curricular activities including rugby, football under lights and representing St Joe’s in swimming galas.

Zohra
Following her excellent GCSE results, Zohra has chosen to study Maths, Biology and Chemistry for A Level and hopes to take a science-related degree at uni. She really appreciates the sense of community at St Joe’s and the strong relationships she has built with her teachers. She knows she can always ask for help if she needs it. She is now looking forward to being able to enjoy the rest of the summer holiday!

Isa
Isa is feeling very proud of her results after lots of hard work. She will be studying Psychology, Art and English Literature. She wants to explore creative subjects like marketing and journalism at uni. She is looking forward to studying subjects that she loves the most with teachers she admires. She joined in Year 9 from The Abbey and is thankful to St Joe’s for encouraging her to achieve good grades and for the friends she has made. She has enjoyed being involved with set design for the drama production, helping in Art Club and being a part of the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
Her advice for new Year 11s is to set goals and work hard but also find time to meet up with your friends.

Liya is looking forward to studying Psychology, Biology and Chemistry at A Level and is already setting her sights on applying to take a degree in Dermatology at UCL. She is looking forward to the extra independence enjoyed in Sixth Form, being able to use the Sixth Form Centre and the privileges it brings. She joined St Joseph’s in Year 7 having relocated from India, and credits the College with helping her discover who she is as a person.

Tom
Tom is incredibly happy with his results and has chosen Art, Psychology and Spanish with plans to study Spanish or Linguistics at uni. He can’t wait to focus on subjects that he likes the most and start a new course with Psychology. He has appreciated St Joe’s being a ‘small school with excellent resources and a great community where help is always at hand’. His advice for new Year 11s is: ‘if you put in enough work, you will get the rewards that you deserve.’

Izzy is really happy with her GCSE results and is looking forward to taking English Literature, History and Philosophy and Ethics for A Level with the aim of applying to Oxford to study English or History. She has enjoyed a wide variety of co-curricular activities including underlights hockey and football, Bronze Duke of Edinburgh, LAMDA, MUN and playing Patty, the school secretary, in ‘Grease’. Having joined St Joe’s in Year 9, Izzy has appreciated the strong community feel of a smaller school, where teachers know you and are ‘super encouraging’.
