St Joseph’s College is a Duke of Edinburgh Award Directly Licensed Centre offering the exciting opportunity to undertake the Bronze Award in Year 9 and the Gold Award in the Sixth Form.
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) aims to provide an enjoyable, non-competitive, challenging and individually designed programme of personal development. A DofE Programme consists of activities across three different sections (Physical, Skills and Volunteering) which can be chosen by the individual based on their current interests or if they have a desire to try something new. The final section is the Expedition section which is undertaken in small groups where one of the aims is to be as self-sufficient as far as possible. Expedition areas include, but aren’t limited to, West Berkshire, the Brecon Beacons and the Lake District. The Award is designed to challenge participants based on where they are already and due to its diversity, offers a truly rewarding experience in a variety of ways.
