We were delighted to host the second Earth Summit for schools with St Edward’s this year. The children’s ideas and Earth Summit Pledges made it very difficult for our judges, including our guest Dr Bottoms from Syngenta, to make a decision. In the end, they awarded two ideas as the coming year pledges.
Earth Summit Pledges
A joint Earth Summit Pledge between the two schools on making wildlife zones and helping pollinators to thrive in schools and a venture called Kick for Life – where children run a charity sporting events (including parents) and any money raised goes to charities that are engaged in the planting of trees.
From the students
We thought it was very educational. We really enjoyed the fact that you could have chosen anything to base your pledge on. It was nice to meet people of our age from other schools and talk to them about the climate and what they thought.
Liked the different presentations; how everyone worked together and how creative it was.
