Lucas achieved success in his A Levels in Economics, Further Maths, Maths and History and has secured a place at Cambridge to read Economics. His EPQ, for which he achieved A*, was on the topic of Cryptocurrency. He joined in the Sixth Form and says ‘I really enjoyed it. It was a change of pace to what I was previously used to but I adapted well. Everyone here is really nice too. I have grown in confidence a lot as it’s a very nurturing environment and people really want you to do well.’

Anand achieved an A in Biology and Geography and a B in Chemistry. His EPQ was on the topic of “The evolution of dental techniques since the 16th century”. He is off to read Biochemistry at Warwick University. He joined from Maiden Erlegh Chiltern Edge in Year 8 as he wanted to be stretched academically and says St Joseph’s has helped him become more confident. He played football and cricket and was keenly involved with STEM – working with Royal Berkshire Hospital to produce a product and have work experience. He intends to do some volunteering before starting at university.

Ameesha achieved A in Biology, A in Psychology and B in Chemistry as well as an A in her EPQ on the brain and hallucinations. She really enjoyed the researching aspect as she learned how to read through dense journals and articles which will help her at university. She is going to study an Integrated Masters course in Neuroscience at Southampton. She joined in Year 7 and has loved the lessons and support from teachers. She has grown a lot in confidence and there’s a lot of opportunities available here. She had LAMDA lessons, was Richardson House Captain in Sixth Form and participated in Young Enterprise.

Former Head Student, Izzy, achieved an A* in Drama, A in Religious Studies, B in English and an A* for her EPQ in gender inequality in sex work. She is off to Birmingham to read Philosophy. She participated in school productions, was part of CAFOD Young Leaders and played the trumpet and sang. When she was in Year 7 she completed a social outreach project where she encouraged people to bring in old blankets and scarves they no longer needed so the College could donate them to charity. She thinks that set the tone for the type of person she would grow to be here.
