Giles spent the first stage of his working life as an Army officer serving in the Far and Middle East, Central and North America, Germany and the Balkans, as well as the UK. After 20 years he changed career, retraining as a teacher. He has worked exclusively in the independent sector; as well as teaching History across Years 7-13, he has been a boarding housemaster and played a full part in both sport and the wider extra-curricular life.
Giles has a degree in History from the University of Wales and his interests include rugby, hill walking and sailing. He is married and has three children at independent schools.
