A group of pupils from Years 9 to 11 recently headed to Shrewsbury School to take part in a Model United Nations Competition.
Maddie, Patrick, Noah, Lucas, Ursula and Liam represented the Islamic Republic of Iran, whilst Izzy, Ted, Isa, Leoni and Emma represented Kenya.
They argued from the perspective of those countries in a variety of debates, including topics such as the treatment of prisoners, child trafficking, transitional justice and the impact of vaping.
Excitingly, they secured St Joseph’s first ever awards, with Patrick and Ursula receiving prestigious ‘Highly Commended’ awards for their well-researched and pertinent contributions in the Science and Youth Committees respectively. We look forward to more success over the coming terms!
