Early Years get a visit from the Fire Service
Last Friday, Early Years experienced a real fire engine and its team when Firefighters who work all around the Reading area came in and gave them a taster of being a real firefighter.
They were split into two groups so half of Early Years had a fire safety talk from two of the firefighters and the others went up to the fire engine and were taught how to work the hose, how the breathing equipment worked and even tried on some of their uniform! The other half were taught how to stop, drop and roll and basic fire safety when it came to smoke alarms and getting them tested. Both groups were able to sit in the main area of the fire engine and were also taught how to block off the road with cones and stoppers. Overall, Early Years had a wonderful time and learnt a lot from the whole experience.
